Mets' Juan Soto shushes new haters: ‘It’s fun to make them quiet’

Juan Soto came over a heckler early in the Mets amusement against the Cardinals on Monday as he stood in right field.
The fan shouted from the grass past the right-field fence, “Overpaid, overrated,“ to Soto, who turned and gazed at him.
Then, in the foot of the third inning, Soto homered off a to begin with pitch from Sonny Gray, penetrating the ball over the right-field fence and specifically at the heckler, who attempted to capture the ball but fell down in the prepare. The minute afterward went viral on social media.
“It’s fun to make them calm truly quick,” Soto said to the Unused York Post afterward in the week. “It feels truly great to see them go quiet.”
After marking him to a record-breaking 15-year, $765 contract in December, the Mets will trust Soto proceeds to quiet his haters.
The 26-year-old had the best 162-game season of his career in 2024 with the Yankees, hitting 288 with a .989 OPS and posting career highs in hits (156), run scored (128) and domestic runs (41).
